A dynamic duo, in marriage and in business. We came to chimneys from firefighting, which is an unusual route in — and the reason we understand chimney fires and what leads to them better than most people who sweep them.

It started with the fire service
The background
Our background in firefighting gives us an edge in understanding chimney fires and their potential hazards. That is not a marketing line. It changes what we look for, what we are willing to sign off on, and how blunt we are when something is not right.
First Response Chimney, Stove & Fireplace grew out of that into a full hearth company: chimney maintenance and repairs, stove and fireplace installation, roof and masonry work, and hardscaping — plus a showroom that sells stoves and fireplaces, non-combustible mantels and hearths, custom fireplace doors and more.

We have a building with our name on it, a showroom with over forty units on the floor and more than twenty-five stone veneers on the wall, and a fleet parked outside it. You can come and stand in it.
Open Monday to Friday 8 to 5 and Saturday 10 to 4, and by appointment outside that when it suits you better.

The People Who Turn Up
Trained here, certified independently
The team
Our technicians are trained in house and certified externally — CSIA, and the National Chimney Sweep Guild’s Certified Chimney Professional and Certified Chimney Reliner credentials. We send people to the CSIA training centre and we pay for it.
They turn up in a marked truck and a uniform, they put drop cloths down before they open anything, and they photograph the job. If you would like to join them, we are usually hiring.
We live here too
The community
Front Royal is home. Our trucks are in the parade, our people coach and volunteer, and most of our work comes from somebody down the road telling their neighbour to call us.
That is also the accountability. In a town this size you cannot do a bad job and disappear.
