Chimney Restoration
The condition of your chimney is not what you can see from the driveway — it is what is happening inside the flue. Condensation, acid and creosote work on the clay tile and mortar every season you burn. We reline, resurface, reseal and re-cap chimneys across the Shenandoah Valley, and we will show you photographs of what we found before we quote a dollar.
Whether you heat with oil, gas, wood or coal, each fuel leaves behind some combination of condensation, acidic buildup and creosote — and all three attack the clay flue tiles and the mortar between them. Left alone, that deterioration is how carbon monoxide finds its way into a living room, and how a chimney fire finds its way into a wall.
The National Fire Protection Association recommends chimneys be inspected annually and swept regularly. Everything below is what we do once an inspection finds something.
Relining
Stainless Steel Chimney Liners
A stainless liner gives the chimney a new, continuous, gas-tight interior from the appliance all the way to the top. It is the single most effective repair there is for a deteriorated flue — and which liner goes in depends on your fuel, your flue shape and how hard the chimney works. Here is what we install — and Elite is our standard.
Light Wall Chimney Liner
The everyday workhorse. A continuous strip of mill-certified stainless, corrugated and 7-ply interlocked and crimped into a gas- and water-tight system that stays light enough to drop down a tight flue without a fight. This is what goes into most wood stove and insert relines we do.

Elite Chimney Liner
This is the liner we install as standard. Unless your chimney calls for something heavier, Elite is what goes in — we do not quote a thinner liner to win a job on price.
Same 7-ply construction as Light Wall but built on a stronger sidewall, and it can be ovalized — which is what saves the job when the existing flue is a narrow rectangle and a round liner simply will not pass. Over twice the crush strength of a standard corrugated liner.

Crossover Chimney Liner
Spiral-wound with a 4-ply interlocked seam and a smooth interior. That smooth wall means better draft and a much easier sweep — there is nothing for creosote to hang onto. No memory, so it lies where you put it instead of fighting back up the chimney.

Heavy Wall Chimney Liner
The heaviest liner we install. Half again the wall thickness of Crossover, spiral-wound 4-ply, smooth inside. When a chimney is rough, offset, or is going to see hard use for decades, this is the one that gets specified — and it is what we put in when a homeowner tells us they never want to think about the flue again.

Resurfacing
FireGuard & HeatShield
Not every damaged flue needs a liner. When the tile is sound but the mortar joints have opened up, resurfacing rebuilds the flue from the inside — filling the gaps and leaving a smooth, continuous ceramic surface without losing the flue size a stainless liner would cost you.

Certified ceramic resurfacing
FireGuard is the only certified ceramic resurfacing and mortar-joint repair system that uses a pinpoint vibration unit. That vibration is the whole point: it drives the ceramic into tight mortar joints and hairline fractures that a poured or troweled system simply bridges over, and it lays down an even coat instead of a rough, patchy one.
Systems without vibration tend to leave mixed results — ceramics that never reached into the joint, and an uneven finish that collects creosote. FireGuard leaves the flue smooth.
Smoke Chamber
ChamberGuard
The smoke chamber is the funnel-shaped space above the damper that gathers smoke and pushes it into the flue. On older fireplaces it is often built with stepped, exposed brick — corbeled, rough, and full of gaps. That rough surface slows the draft, catches creosote, and lets combustion gases seep into the surrounding masonry.
ChamberGuard parges the chamber smooth and seals it. It is tested and listed by Underwriters Laboratories and it is the first choice of chimney professionals nationwide.
Waterproofing
Keeping Water Out
Water is the slowest and most expensive thing that happens to a chimney. It gets into the brick, freezes, expands, and takes the face off the masonry a flake at a time — then it finds the crown, then the flashing, then your ceiling. We use WeatherTite products, which are formulated to repel water while still letting the masonry breathe. A sealed-in-moisture chimney fails faster than an untreated one.

If you have a framed chase rather than masonry, the cover on top of it is the only thing between the weather and the wood. The galvanized covers builders use rust through, pond water in the middle, and then drip into the chase where nobody sees it until the framing is gone.
Ours are cut on CNC machinery from mill-certified 24-gauge 304 stainless, custom-made to your chimney’s exact dimensions, with every corner welded on an overlapped seam.

A traditional masonry fireplace is a poor heater — most of the heat goes straight up the flue, and on a cold night an open fireplace can pull more warm air out of the house than the fire puts back. The PriorFire Retrofit is a lab-tested, field-proven engineered firebox that goes into the opening you already have.
Its shape, its materials and its “air wing” over-fire air injection system produce two to three times the heat of the average masonry fireplace, with fewer emissions and a tall flame that is genuinely worth watching.
